I took photos of various signs painted on roads and pavements and used these three to design a denim two piece consisting of dark grey denim with the signs printed on in white.
Airbag sign inspired street wear. I started with taking the toddler from the airbag sign and creating a stencil from newsprint which I then used to screen print onto both paper and fabric. The two individual photo’s of the pattern include the original paper screen print and then a scan of said piece. On the double page with the three outfit designs also showcases the fabric sample I made. The clothing designs themselves feature a pair of patchwork jeans made from white denim, crimson denim and printed denim. The top is a crimson t-shirt with long white sleeves underneath, along the three design different long sleeve design are featured (namely plain white, printed and one of each). The belts are tape belts, the first simply being the printed pattern whereas the other two designs feature a belt that tie into the airbag sign more by featuring the warning at the top of the sign. This is my preferred belt for the outfit because whilst it features more of the airbag sign, the contrast the yellow brings helps to tie the outfit together and to draw the eye and make it stand out.
